Kevin Parker is an Urban Designer and Town Planner with over 20 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors. As Redrow’s Group Masterplanning Director he and his team are responsible for promoting best practice in placemaking across the company as well as providing urban design support to all of theregions. He has recently led on the launch of a new internal placemaking manual called “Designing a Better Way to Live” which sets out a set of 8 measureable principles (the ‘Redrow 8’) and provides a framework for the delivery of great places across the country.
The benefits to Redrow of embracing placemaking include: providing a focus for discussions on the things that matter most to placemaking; being able to clearly articulate our vision for new places; having positive discussions with stakeholders from an early stage; and of course creating great places for our customers to live. Whilst focussed on our customers’ needs as residents of a new thriving community, the 8 principles also embed and reflect best practice in urban design and the latest policy guidance and advice.
